The link Poems at the footer of this site takes you to a list of poems. Clicking on any poem in the list brings you to a page with sections that toggle to reveal the poem, a memorization aid, and, if available, a reading of the poem. Contemplated, eventually, toggles where visitors can practice "typing" the poem (with history), and recording their reading(s). A walk in the park and an inspired suggestion led to this site. It uses a stripped down version of Robert Oliphant's technique for memorizing poems and other texts (PDF). To submit poems for inclusion on this site, send an email to poetry@ourposterity.org. In the subject please note the author, title, and date published. If you can, please cut and paste the poem into the email and/or include a link to the page where the you found the poem. A note on copyright: This is an "experimental" site intended for personal use by a small number of people, and will require that users login. If you submit a poem for inclusion, please advise whether the poem is or is not in the public domain. |
